Nickname(s): The Wonder Club, Oly Dade, Accra Land Lords

The Wonder Club remain the only team in Ghana Premier League history to have won a league title without a single defeat under their belt. This enviable record set forty nine years ago (1970) has never been close to being matched. The Dade boys are two time Ghana Premier League champions (1970,1974) and 3 time FA Cup winners in 1975, 1983 and 1995 respectively.

There are various versions of how Great Olympics attained the name the “Wonder Club”. Most of the versions of the story center around a famous 2-0 win against the all-conquering, Real Republicans in the league. The facts are not very clear but the Dade boys (who had a weaker team going into that game) miraculously beat Real Republicans (who at the time were beating every team) in Accra. The late Mr. Ohene Djan conferred the title ” Wonder Club” on Accra Great Olympics and they’ve been referred to as such. The Wonder Club lived up to their wonderful name when they fielded 12 players in an African Clubs Championship game, after a substituted player stayed on the pitch until the assistant referee noticed and brought it to the attention of the center referee.

The Accra Land Lords recently outdoored their new jersey supplied by Portuguese kit manufacturers Strike. The new jerseys clearly embody the Dade spirit and fans have instantly fallen in love with the kits.

The ever vibrant Accra Great Olympics Supporters Union (AGOSU) may well be the most vibrant supporter’s union in Ghana. The passion with which AGOSU supports the team is very admirable. One funny moment recorded at the Accra Sports Stadium shows a typical Dade fan extending “humble greetings” to former Kotoko coach C.K. Akunnor.

With the Wonder Club, it’s always about wonders, it was alleged in 2017 that the handlers of Oly’s twitter page had lost their twitter password. This led to Oly trending on the social network. More people have fallen in love with the club (Yes now they have the password again)

Fans of Oly are hoping for a return to the Premier League and with the signing of new talent including Bernard Don Bortey, the Don Dada……AGOSU can begin to hope again!!!
