Chapter 1:
Why are you smiling? Those words caught me off guard, after all I was smiling at everyone.
You’re cute and I like that you need to look up at me. (A quirky answer! Surprisingly no one else seemed to hear it).
That was the very first time I met her. I was there to meet someone who many believed was special but things took an interesting turn when this beautiful girl came into the picture.
I met so many girls who knew me because I was actually very popular. I had no idea that I’d have to smile so much when made the trip to the East that morning. I was supposed to be at school for one thing or other but here I was close to 50km from where everyone knew I should’ve been.
Those who know me, know that I attract ladies but I get very shy when I have to speak to them. But here I was, a superstar, and for once I didn’t think about being shy.
Everyone seemed to know me and it kinda felt good. The adolescent hormones in me were enjoying the attention and oh I was beginning to reconsider certain life decisions. (That is another story for later in life).
I had heard her name before, spoken to her and seen her picture before. Meeting her in person was a revelation. For some reason when she was introduced, I shook her hand and went one extra step to hug her. It was harmless in everyone’s eyes but that laid the foundation for the future.
A Lady in her own right, with an amazing sense of humor. She made fun of my perpetually wet palms and said she wouldn’t stand close to me because I make her look short. After a few minutes of getting to know her, she skipped away on important business and brought our first meeting to a cliff-hanging end. I wanted to know more about and explore her. She cut it short leaving me wondering if we’d get a chance to talk again or that was that. Deep down I knew……I’d see her again and we’d pick up where we left off…… Exploration!
